Workshop notes

The magazine begins with the one format there is actually material for: notes on how this network is built and what building it turned up about its own holdings. Every figure quoted is read from the database at request time rather than written into the text.

What is here and what is not. These notes report on this project, not on other people. Where they make a statement about an outside source, the evidence is given with it. There is no third-party reporting, no reviewing and no scene coverage here — the editorial basis for that does not exist.

  • What independent publishing means bibliographically

An upload makes music available. A deposit with the national library makes it findable — still findable after the platform it sat on has gone.

    Electronic music
  • Three holdings, no containment

The editorial holding, the national library’s catalogue and the artist’s own platform account keep three different catalogues of the work. None contains the others — and the recording identifiers let you measure that exactly.

    Creator economy
  • How you tell that a value holds

A date that looks plausible and comes from an official source can still be measuring something other than what you take it for. An example from this project — and the rule that came out of it.

    Linux, servers, security
  • What the automation here is not allowed to do

Automated processes fetch the data, normalise it, weigh matches and prepare decisions. They are not allowed to publish anything. That boundary is not a statement of intent but something built into the system.

    AI and automation
  • Why there are images here now

Until 5 August 2026 this network showed not one piece of image work. Not because none exists, but because no documented clearance did. What changed — and what stays shut.

Topic fields

The magazine’s editorial structure. Each field currently carries exactly one note; further formats will follow when there is material for them.
